Dragon´s Breath

Dragon’s Breath is a family game where everyone is trying to collect the most gems. It takes a minute to set up and plays in about ten minutes.

The box itself forms part of set-up: upon it you’ll stack several plastic ice rings around an ice floe token, and then carefully tip all of the various-coloured gems inside the stack before play begins.

The starting player takes the wooden dragon piece, and they’ll remove the top ice ring from the stack, causing gems to fall out. However! Before they remove the ring, everyone – starting with the player to their left – chooses one of the gem tokens to denote which fallen gems they get to claim. If, for instance, you’re first to choose and there are blue gems teetering on the edge of the ring, you might snap up the blue token. The active player then removes the top ring – manipulating it as much as they like in the process, as long as they don’t disturb any rings beneath it – and then everyone claims their gems before the dragon piece is passed clockwise, and the process starts again.

After the final ring is removed and players collect any gems not on the ice floe at the bottom, players compare their hauls, and the player with the most gems wins!

  • Take That!

    Take That!

None really, save for the potential to see your craving for gems harpooned by dastardly ice removal.

Admittedly, it's not a game that screams variety, but it's fun for all ages and doesn't outstay it's welcome.
