UR

Sam says
It’s the game that’s impossible to pitch to doubting friends! Quite apart from the fact that UR is a puzzle-heavy abstract game, the name of a Mesopotamian city also makes for the least decisive-sounding title in boardgames history. So with all that in mind, probably not the option post-dessert with pals whose last game experience was Trivial Pursuit in 1994. But… but, if you like the kind of thinking battle that Chess offers, only broadened to include more players, and more (although not too many more) rules, UR may be the thing you’ve been searching for.
-
Take That!
Plenty of scope for Take That. the whole thing is a struggle for control!
-
Fidget Factor!
Possibly high, depending on opponents mental speed and likelihood - or not - to go through all the options.
-
Brain Burn!
Moderate to (potentially, at least) heavy. A lot of the play will be fairly reactive, as the city changes in front of your eyes and your schemes implode in front of your eyes. You'll need a plan B. And a plan C.

Again Again!
For all the thinkiness of UR it's a game that doesn't out-stay its welcome. After that first-play bump of excessive head-scratching you'll speed up exponentially, and the randomness of the tiles allow for different experiences of the game.
